Dear Ed, I enjoyed our conversations as we did 'Extra' work for the "Mistletoe Movie" in Springfield. This site for the Simpson's movie certainly gave me an idea of the excitement and creativity that rolled along with the donut. My email: halleluiaman77@yahoo.com to keep in touch. Thanks again, Your friend, Brian Crystal Man In The Mirror "Can you see yourself."

Greetings Ed- Tim "Homer Simpson" Kavanagh here. I really like the site that you created and actually used it to contact the band "Green Mountain Pranksters" to have them appear as a musical guest on my talk show Late Night Saturday. I make mention of Springfield often in my show and dedicated an entire episode from footage we took at the World premiere last July. I received the card you sent out to me so thought I would reach out and sign your guestbook. I have had the chance to talk a lot about the Spingfield win in countless interviews since the big win back in July. It is always important to me to highlight the residents and businesses of Springfield that played such a key role in the winning video. Without the heart and soul of the Springfield community of 9300, the town would not have won. Additionaly the town got together after it was announced that VT won and planned and executed one HELL of a party when Springfield, VT played host to the World in the premiere of the The Simpsons Movie. Looking forward to visiting Springfield again soon. Best- Tim

My wife and I just got back from visiting Springfield, VT during Christmas. We were there only 2 days, 25th & 26th. I had not read anything regarding Springfield being selected as Homer's Hometown until today, the 30th, though I new it had occured. I was suprised not to find any mention of this event in town, other than the giant hand in front of the Movie Theater. I expected there to be some form of road sign or banner. After reading about how unfairly the townspeople who made the video were treated I see now that those in charge probably don't really care about there new status, be it comical or not. My visit to Vermont gave me the impression of liberalism but Springfield seems not to follow that philosophy. To those in the movie; Thanks for taking the time to show some pride and not be tight assed. You laughed at yourselves and will have many memories for what you did and were successful in your efforts. The world is unfair. You won by votes, show your unity and elect officials of your town who share your ideals. Lesson learned. Happy New Year

I just heard the news. I am shocked. There needs to be a Blue Riband Commission to investigate it. Nothing less will do!

I participated in the filming at the softball field in the afternoon. It was so very hot! I brought along my shepherd's crook as my "weapon." After we were done I asked the director if he wanted my to bring a sheep to the crowd scene in the square that evening. He thought a moment and said,"Sure. It's a Simpson movie so nothing can be too crazy." So, I brought my black Shetland sheep, Zoe. We were in the front line of the group to the right. Zoe kept very calm, even when we were surrounded by a crush of people. She and I can be seen entering the movie theatre. I brought her downtown on the day of the premiere so that she could see all the action. She wore flowers around her neck and was interviewed by a crew from German television. I got a ticket to the premiere because my husband is on the School Board. That might not have been fair but he does put in many hours and considered it a "Thank You."

It appears, after reading your story of being shut out of the premier despite being the reason for the premiere, you truly are the real Simpson's Springfield. That kind of irony should only happen in satire. However, there were people from our Springfield that voted against our video (or for another) simply because they knew the cronies of our city would slurp up the tickets.

Hi Ed, I posted your comment on my blog ( on it's own, not as a comment ) with your links so people could read your story and hopefully find this site. This site is a great place to visit and I'm happy to pass the word along.

Isn't it customary to have a cast screening? Just what is going on in Springfield? It sounds like the volunteers should start drawing up a list of offenders who should be eligible to a visit to the Southern Vt. correctional facility outside of town.

Greetings to the fine people of Springfield, Vermont. I am from Springfield, Illinois - the town which came in second place to your town in the Simpson's Hometown competition of last Summer (2007). Many of us here in Springfield, Illinois were scratching out heads wondering how your fair locale could have beaten us for the title of real Simpson's Springfield. After some thought there's little doubt that your video played a pivotal role. Everyone I've spoken to on this said that your video showed true civic pride, and it showed how important winning the coveted Simpson's hometown status was to you. I simply can't believe - well come on now we've all seen enough Simpson's episodes to know how things like this really work - but still I find it hard to believe that you all weren't invited to the Premiere. If I had the money I'd buy you all movie tickets, a soda, popcorn, and some candy - sadly I'm just too darned broke for that. Still you deserve it! I have posted a story about this to my blog for the people of my Springfield to read. You can find my blog at: www.jeromeprophet.com
